Human: Variation 2 - High - poly model of Gyromitra for use in VFX. This mushroom has various names such as brain mushroom, turban fungus, elephant ears, and beefsteak mushroom/morel. The German term "lorchel" is a result of the older "lorche," itself from the 18th century Low German "Lorken," aligning with the similar-sounding (and similar-looking) morchel. Other names include: Frühjahrs-Giftlorchel, Frühjahrslorchel, Frühlorchel, Giftlorchel, hongo bonete, falsa colmenilla, Gyromitra esculenta, fausse morille, gyromitre fausse morille, bobausis. Its top has a shapeless appearance or rather resembles a brain or Greek nut. It can be 5-20cm in size. This particular one was around 8-10cm in size. It contains some poison but if you boil it three times it's okay to eat it. Has slightly crunchy texture at least compared to other mushrooms. Some also dry it and use its powder. It grows in Europe and North America. Likes quite sandy soil. It is edible (with specific preparations) in some countries and considered poisonous in others. The fungus was first named in 1800 by mycologist Christian Hendrik Persoon as Helvella esculenta, and gained its current accepted binomial name when the Swedish mycologist Elias Magnus Fries placed it in the genus Gyromitra in 1849. The genus name is derived from the Greek terms "gyros" round and "mitra" headband. Its specific epithet is derived from the Latin "esculentus," edible. The model was obtained using photogrammetry, so especially good textures were captured. Delighting was performed to get cleaner color texture. Includes normal maps, height map, Ambient Occlusion map, and extra bump map. Metalness and roughness are made out of bump map, so one can just use black/white color if needed. Original textures come at 8k png, and 4k jpg are provided. The topology of the model is all triangles derived from decimation master in Zbrush. (Low poly/quad versions are coming later as separate models)
