To provide maximum surface area for filter probiotics to grow, the optimal structure is gyroid. The diameter of internal holes and their relation to the 25mm external size minimise obstruction to circulation of both water and air without clogging. I produced a cubic model with the gyroid infill formula differenced with a sphere in OpenSCAD but then had to clean it up in MeshLab. Regardless, I am pleased.
