I removed the flat spot from my extruder post since it wasn't keyed, so I could work with the original cylinder. As I was making adjustments, I also tweaked the tab slot to ensure a seamless fit without having to shave down the tab itself. This revised design now has a 0.2mm clearance on either side of the tab slot and mine clicked into place perfectly on the first try - maybe I just got fortunate.
