A DIY guide for illustrating how autogyro/gyrocopter operates, featuring a basic rotor head crafted from one or two plastic rulers used as a simple wing. Building on an existing rotor head design, I experimented with a makeshift wing by substituting it with one or two standard plastic rulers. The end result was less than perfect due to my inability to make the system self-rotate automatically. I'm not interested in making this contraption airborne and plan for it to remain on the ground indefinitely. Given my unfamiliarity with the key factors necessary for inducing autogyro operation, I decided to tackle this challenge first hand through trial and error method. Making a standard windmill is indeed quite an easy feat but whether that would serve the purpose in identical manner is anybody's guess. For the moment I'm without access to strong gusts of air which can be utilised for thorough testing purposes.
