Gypsum - desert rose, R. Moldova (mineral)
sketchfab
The Republic of Moldova is home to a remarkable mineral specimen, bearing the number 5576. Measuring 5 centimeters in length, 4 centimeters in width, and 4 centimeters in height, this gypsum crystal formation is a true natural wonder. Composed of calcium sulfate and two molecules of water (CaSO4 · 2H2O), the specimen's rose-like aggregate of tabular crystals was formed through precipitation in arid desert regions. These regions are characterized by their scarcity of rainfall, which allows for the concentration of minerals and the formation of such unique specimens. Trapped within the crystal matrix are particles of sand, a testament to the complex geological processes that have shaped this mineral over time. For more information on this remarkable specimen, please visit the website at http://geology.uaic.ro/muzee/mineralogie/. The concept and 3D modeling of the specimen were created by Dr. Andrei Ionut APOPEI, a renowned expert in the field of geology and mineralogy.
