Gypsum is a mineral that evaporates most often in layered sedimentary deposits alongside halite, anhydrite, sulfur, calcite, and dolomite. Gypsum is very similar to Anhydrite, the main difference being that gypsum contains two waters while anhydrite lacks water entirely. Gypsum is the most common sulfate mineral found naturally. The uses of gypsum include manufacturing wallboard, cement, plaster of Paris, soil conditioning, and as a hardening retarder in portland cement. Varieties of gypsum known as "satin spar" and "alabaster" are used for ornamental purposes; however, their low hardness restricts their durability. https://www.mindat.org/min-1784.html https://geology.com/minerals/gypsum.shtml
