Gusev Crater, Mars from the NASA 3D model library was created by Ames SpaceShop with precision and skill. To make it more robust, I thickened the original file's base significantly. The full details of the original file are available for download at http://nasa3d.arc.nasa.gov/detail/SpiritLanding. Once printed, I added texture to the flat areas using glue, and then painted the model with vibrant acrylics and inks to bring out its unique features. Here are the print settings used: Printer: Cocoon Create Rafts: None were needed for this model. Supports: Not required for a stable print. Resolution: A high level of detail was achieved with a 0.2mm resolution. Infill: The model has a solid feel due to its 25% infill density.
