Gunther G. Hoos, a devoted husband of 43 years, loving father and grandfather, as well as an inspirational teacher, left this world on December 29, 2015. Survived by his wife Barbara (Fishberg) Hoos, daughter Tanya (Hoos) Crowley, her husband Tony Crowley, and their son Aiden, Gunther's legacy lives on through his children. His son Keyan Hoos and his wife Katie (Maguire) Hoos also carry on his memory with their three sons Finnegan, Callum, and Jasper. Additionally, he is remembered by his sister Chris Hoos-Born and her husband Michael Born of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Prior to his passing, Gunther served as a Captain in the Air Force and worked as a freelance photographer and filmmaker before moving to Massachusetts. He authored numerous articles on film production and several books on Super 8 Film production. Avid reader, Gunther loved spending time with his grandsons and taught his grandson Aiden how to edit films and videos. He was an enthusiast of classical music, art, and great cooking. In 2007, after 27 years of teaching at Fitchburg State University (then College), Gunther retired as a professor of film and video production. His students remember him for inspiring them to pursue their passions and achieve their dreams. Many went on to become Oscar and Emmy winners, celebrated authors, TV and film producers, editors, and special effect masters. Gunther's impact on family, friends, colleagues, and students was beautifully summarized by a colleague who said, "You made us better, you made your surroundings better. You gave value to all and everything you touched." Your memory will be cherished forever.
