Gummy Bear Maker
thingiverse
I've been on the hunt for an affordable gummy bear mold, but they all seemed too pricey, so here's a printable version. The two-piece mold with 20 bears is a modified Snowman maker design, and in my experience, it's best suited for thicker substances poured into it. Regular gummy mix tends to flow right through (or my clamps might be loose). I've included a full 72-gummy plate with deep grooves between the cavities for easy removal of entire batches of finished bears. If your printer can't handle such a large mold or you don't want to wait, I've also included two smaller 36-bear molds. They're identical to the 72-cavity version but chopped in half. This design combines elements from the Snowman maker mold and the Classic Gummy Bear model. The 20-bear version uses a sliced version of the Classic Gummy Bear, while the plates use the full model plus a half plate from the Snowman maker. My standard gummy mix consists of 1 box flavored gelatin, 2 packages unflavored gelatin, and 2/3 cup liquid. You can use water or fruit juice as the liquid; I prefer apple juice, but you could probably use any juice to complement the flavor of your gelatin. Alternatively, you can use 1/3 cup water/juice and 1/3 cup of your favorite liquor. Cheap vodka works well. If you're making the non-alcoholic version, add your liquid to a pot on the stove, then dump in all the gelatin and let it sit for about 5 minutes until moisture is absorbed. Then heat until all the sugars melt and pour into the mold. I prefer using a syringe as shown in the included photos. If you're making the 50/50 mix with alcohol, add your liquor after the mixture is heated and then begin pouring. A full batch should yield around 120-130 bears easily. The first photo shows a 1/2 test batch of grape flavor, which filled nearly 2/3 of the mold. I sprayed it down lightly with oil before pouring just for good measure. All of the gummy bears were easy to remove and most came out in strips like in the photo.
