Gulf No-nox Horseshoes

Back in the 60's Gulf ran a No-nox (no knocks i.e. pinging, detonation, etc) campaign for their gas that said it gave your engine extra kick. The ad ended with a couple clink clanks accompanying horseshoes as though a horse kicked a couple times. At some point they started giving out these blow molded orange plastic horse shoes when you got a fill up. You'd stick them to your windshield or us kids would just play with them until they inevitably broke. They were suuuper thin and fragile blow molded plastic of the variety they use in a chocolate box. TThey we're guaranteed to break which caused us kids to nag our parents until we got another at the next fill up. The fact that so many still exist today is testament to how many they must have given out.

Anyway this is generally modeled from an original. Originals were made as cheaply as possible and vary wildly in shape, symmetry, and all sorts of other details. The originals I used to model (in one of the pics) weren't terrible but far from perfect. Mine are symmetrical. Printed in PETG, I think Hatchbox orange seems close to my memory of the original orange . All of the originals seem to have gone dark for whatever reason and look more burnt orange. If you're going to curve them a little for a windshield do it while they're very warm.
