Guitar Neck Rest Support
thingiverse
When I started playing guitar, I aimed for the best value on a new instrument without overspending. This led me to search for a second-hand guitar instead. Second-hand guitars usually require some adjustments or maintenance to get them ready to play. Hiring a professional to do it can be expensive and cancels out any savings from buying used in the first place. So, with the help of online resources like YouTube, I learned how to tune, maintain, and set up my guitar on my own. One crucial thing is having a neck support when working on your instrument so you don't damage the headstock on your workbench. Since I have access to a 3D printer, I thought, "Why not create one?" This design was created in under five minutes and actually works quite well. For added protection, I place a large towel on top of my workbench with this support underneath so neither the body nor neck gets scratched from contact with the bench or support. The support is slightly slanted because thin guitars like electric ones will most likely sit at an angle. As you can see from my print, it's not perfect, but since I use a towel on top, it doesn't cause any issues. I didn't use support material, but you can use it to make the middle section stronger. Mine has some "webbing" on the bottom due to lacking support, which isn't a big deal but not the most attractive look either. The resolution isn't that important here; I would recommend using your fastest print speed setting. Good luck printing this! Let me know what you think in the comments and feel free to ask questions if needed.
