GUITAR CAPO
thingiverse
My son plays electric guitar and I crafted a custom capo for him using FreeCAD. The design features a small spring and a M4 screw, allowing the capo to clip on with ease using just one hand. To accommodate radiused fretboards, I included two contours in the design after carefully measuring various guitars. To prevent damage to the guitar, the capo's fretboard handles should be covered with an elastic material - I opted for thermo shrinking tube and it works flawlessly. If the clamp is not tight enough, you can add a thicker rubber pad, cork, or extra tubes. To see how this project came together, check out my YouTube video at https://youtu.be/seOpBCGQlOI. Be sure to print the latest version of VxCAPOa/b - the "x" denotes the version, while "a" and "b" are parts of the capodester.
