Guilford Lanceolate spear point is a remarkable find from the Doerschuk site in Montgomery County, North Carolina. This ancient artifact dates back to the Middle Archaic period, between 4000 and 3000 BC. Made from high-quality metavolcanic rock, the spear point measures 62.3 mm in length, 25.5 mm in width, and a sturdy 7.4 mm in thickness. The Guilford Lanceolate spear point is cataloged as no. 301a102 within the North Carolina Archaeological Collection, carefully stored at the Research Laboratories of Archaeology, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Its significance is further highlighted in Joffre L. Coe's seminal work, "The Formative Cultures of the Carolina Piedmont," published in Transactions of the American Philosophical Society volume 54, part 5, in 1964, where it is illustrated as Figure 35.
