Guide Rail Parallel Stop for Festool
thingiverse
This jig replaces Festool's expensive FS-PA (Parallelanschlag), which is quite large, making it impractical for small workshops like mine. The simplest solution I could come up with offers highly precise repeatability for multiple same-width cuts, allowing users to make same-width cuts at any width, limited only by the length of the rods used, unlike Festool's jig, which is limited to 650mm. The parallel stops are attachments for the guide rail and can be attached on both sides. They are optimized for small cuts, specifically for the front side of the rails, because I often found myself in need of making precise cuts on this side. This jig does not attempt to incorporate any way of measuring; instead, users should have calipers and a measuring tape available anyway. The main goal of this jig is exact repeatability. It offers very good precision for front-side cuts measured with calipers. An introduction to using this jig can be found in my blog at http://www.theiling.de/cnc/date/2019-04-14.html. The STL files come in two variants: those in '-2.stl' are rendered using OpenSCAD, which results in precise and small files but takes a long time to generate. Those without '-2' in their name are rendered and pre-sliced for 0.2mm layer height using Hob3l, resulting in larger files that can be created in just seconds. However, these files are specialized for a given layer height. Hob3l can be found on Github at https://github.com/moehriegitt/hob3l.
