A likely ancient stone boulder is discovered on a private farm in County Durham, southeastern Romaldkirk. This rock was first identified by Paul Brown and included as 'GH16' in his and Barbara Brown's 2008 publication 'Prehistoric Rock Art in the Northern Dales'. The National Archaeological Database for the Rural North (NADRAP) added the record 'Guestwick Hills 1' to the English Heritage Record in 2008, describing: 'This stone features two depressions, with the larger one typically cup-shaped both in terms of form and depth, while the smaller one is irregularly shaped and not particularly cup-like…' ERA information can be found at https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/era/section/panel/overview.jsf?eraId=1749 Although they appear skeptical about the prehistoric origin of the markings, a nearby cairn and another carved rock (one featuring a ring) were found. The model was created from imagery captured by NADRAP Team 5 in May 2008. This imagery forms part of the full NADRAP archive deposited with Historic England.
