Gudea Head
myminifactory
This heavily worn head may be that of Gudea, a ruler of the small city-state of Lagash dating back to the 22nd-century BCE. Most statues of Gudea were brutally defaced and decapitated by later conquerors of Lagash who sought to erase his legacy completely. A similar, headless statue of Gudea is displayed in the HSM's exhibit "From the Nile to the Euphrates," showcasing a seated figure of comparable scale to this worn fragment.
