GT2/T2.5/T5/T10/MXL belt clamp / adjuster -- parametric
thingiverse
This is a simplistic clamp for a GT2 2mm pitch (T2.5, T5, T10, MXL) belt. It can be used to adjust the belt tension (when screwing the nut further over the bolt). I recommend high infill (>50%). For strength of the bolt it would be good to print the half of the bolt with the teeth in lying position (see picture with the orange parts). But it turned out that in standing position the thread looks much nicer (see attached picture with comparison). It is parametric such that it can be used for different types of belts. You just have to adjust the nut size (and some other parameters) which is not automatically adjusted. See description of the parameters in the scad file / customizer. The design needs the following two libraries: Threadlib: https://github.com/adrianschlatter/threadlib by Adrian Schlatter Timing belts: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:194554 by Jean Luc Peuri You only need to put the timing_belts.scad and thread_profile.scad file in the "libraries" subfolder of your OpenSCAD installation. The file thread_profile.scad in turn needs the packages https://github.com/openscad/scad-utils and https://github.com/openscad/list-comprehension-demos which you also put into the libraries subfolder of your OpenSCAD installation (in subfolders scad-utils and list-comprehension-demos, respectively). If you want to adapt the design to your own needs, please follow these easy steps to get the STL file you want: 1. install openSCAD: https://www.openscad.org (it is free of charge 2. install the libraries mentioned in the thing description 3. open the scad file of this thing 4. adjust the parameters as you like (height of the pile, etc.) 5. render the design by pressing F6 6. export to STL by pressing F7 Note: it turned out that the M7 version is nice and small, but it is hard to print a working thread with 0.4 nozzle. Maybe 0.1 nozzle would do or you have to thread the printed part. I added an M8 version which is bigger, but easier to print. But again: you can customize to whatever you want. Update 19th of January: It turned out that the "recommended printing position" has not perfectly equal z-positions of the two parts. This makes it hard to print. Therefore my advise is to take the "recommended printing position" only for demonstration purpose. For the "real" print render nut and bolt separately (two stl files) and put them together in your slicer (or print them separately). Release notes: 0.01: initial revision 0.02: added options to print nut or bolt only, added further a recommended printing arrangement which I think is best for strength. Further now the bolt is flattened which helps to center the belt before screwing everything together. 0.03: added combobox for directly choosing the belt type 0.04: added properties of the hexagon to the customizer
