This replacement gears for the MKII 5 Watt 3D printable Wind Turbine features a 80mm GT2 (2mm) timing belt, an aluminum pulley with 28 teeth for the stepper motor shaft and a printed pulley with 75 teeth for the main shaft. The ratio is calculated as 75:28 = 2.68. Update: On February 18, 2017, I added a 74 teeth variant to the design, which has a ratio of 74:28 = 2.64 and can be printed without a raft. This modification was necessary due to the tight tolerance of the 75 teeth variant, resulting in excessive friction. The primary purpose of this replacement gear is to significantly reduce gear noise. To print this gear, I used the following settings: - Quality: Highest - Layer Height: 0.06 mm - Print speed: 45 mm/s - Outer wall speed: 20 mm/s - Travel speed: 120 mm/s - Infill percentage: 75% - Build Plate Adhesion Type: Raft (to prevent elephant feet on the teeth) This gear design is based on an OpenScad model, which can be accessed at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:16627. The scad file included contains the parameters used for this specific design.
