Grundig CN 830 / 820 REC sliders
thingiverse
Most of these stunning tape decks have lost their record level control slides. This happened to both of my machines as well. I had to come up with a solution! So, I copied the shape of the button and designed the necessary underpart that connects to the actual potentiometer. I decided to make the shaft a separate part so it can be printed horizontally - making it much stronger in the directions where it needs to be. The connection is snap-in: the shaft just presses into the lower part, then the button is pushed on at the front panel - easy peasy! On the shaft, there's a little round mark on one end - that side goes into the lower part. Now, I need to figure out how to mimic the original aluminum-like finish on top. I've tried nail polish, but it's not perfect - "french white" isn't exactly the color I'm looking for! Painting isn't my strong suit either... I made a version with a little rim to help fill it with paint, but that didn't turn out great. I even attempted actual aluminum foil, which was useless. For now, the top is just black as it comes off the printer - maybe I'll try again later if I can find a better paint!
