Grundfos Alpha Pumpenrad pump wheel/ Impeller (Heizung Zirkulationspumpe/ circulation pump)
thingiverse
This is a replacement part for a Grundfos Alpha+, a circulation pump no longer in production, although it's possible this part will fit other models from the manufacturer as well. I'm not sure how long it will last, but at least until a new one can be ordered. Printing with Nylon is recommended. As you can see in the picture, the original impeller has nearly disintegrated after 12 years of use, which is concerning since it was submerged in our drinking water the entire time. Unfortunately, I didn't take a photo of my nylon print before assembling it. Now that the pump wheel has been in service for a week without any issues, I'm wondering whether I should install the spare pump or send it back. UPDATE_20190201 The pump wheel is working flawlessly after three months with no problems at all. However, without access to solar energy during the winter months, the water only heats up to around 70°C. But when using solar power in the summer, my drinking water can reach temperatures of up to 90°C. It remains to be seen whether I'll need to install my spare pump or not. If it continues to function throughout the summer, I plan on selling the spare unit. UPDATE_20190220 I've since installed the spare pump due to noise issues. The impeller was still attached to the shaft, but it appears another material may be more suitable for this application in water.
