The OV-1D Mohawk was a dual-purpose aircraft designed by Grumman for the US Army, featuring twin turboprops and a high-wing configuration. Its key functions were observing battlefields and enemy positions, as well as light strikes. The two crew members sat side by side in a bubble canopy, providing an extensive field of view. Designed to operate on short, rough landing fields, the Mohawk replaced the Cessna L-19 Bird Dog in a joint Army and Navy project. From 1959 to 1969, 380 Mohawks were produced, with variants including FLIR, SLAR, armed versions, and supply drop capabilities. Serving multiple roles such as observation, close air support, artillery spotting, and photo reconnaissance, the Mohawk was unfortunately discontinued in 1970 after its service in Vietnam. The model available for download includes animated features, retractable landing gear and doors, and an openable canopy.
