The OV-1D Mohawk was a twin turboprop, high wing configuration aircraft designed by Grumman for the US Army. Its primary roles included observing battlefields, enemy positions, and performing light strikes. The Mohawk featured a side-by-side cockpit with a bubble canopy that provided an excellent field of view. Designed to operate from short, rough landing fields, it was intended to replace and outperform the Cessna L-19 Bird Dog. A joint Army and Navy project led to its first flight in 1959, and between 1959 and 1969, 380 Mohawks were produced with various variants including FLIR, SLAR, armed, and emergency supply-dropping versions. The versatile aircraft also served as an observation, close air support, artillery spotter, photo reconnaissance tool, among others. Despite its cancellation in 1970 after serving with distinction in Vietnam, the Mohawk model is available for download in various formats, featuring animated components such as ailerons, flaps, propellers, elevator, and rudder. The canopy opens, landing gear retracts, and doors are included in this scale, textured model.
