The Grumman-built OV-1D Mohawk was a twin turboprop, high-wing configuration aircraft that served the US Army as an armed observation plane with light strike capabilities. It featured a side-by-side cockpit for two crew members and a bubble canopy offering excellent visibility. Designed to operate from short, rough landing fields, it replaced and outperformed the Cessna L-19 Bird Dog in various roles including observation, close air support, artillery spotting, and photo reconnaissance. Produced between 1959 and 1969, a total of 380 Mohawks were manufactured with variants featuring FLIR, SLAR, armed capabilities, and emergency supply pods. Regrettably, the Mohawk was cancelled in 1970 after serving with distinction in Vietnam; however, a detailed, near-scale model is now available for download, complete with animated features, retractable landing gear, and multiple format options.
