Group of the boy with a goose
myminifactory
The boy in this sculpture is firmly embracing a goose, squeezing it tightly as if attempting to strangle it. A Roman replica of an original bronze piece created around 180 B.C. by Boethos, it showcases his skillful craftsmanship. The popularity of this subject matter is evident from the numerous copies discovered so far. This restored upper portion of the sculpture, housed in the Cesi and Boncompagni Ludovisi Collections, was displayed alongside a statue of Aphrodite on a single pedestal.
