Ground Pod Slim
prusaprinters
Ground Pod Slim has a low profile and can be made using any common flying disc and most camera accessories bolted on top Ball heads are expensive, and it is hard to commit one to live on a single pod forever. Using a quick release clamp attached below your ball head allows you to use the ball head quickly and easily on multiple pods. When this stack was used on Ground Pod Classic, the camera was placed too high up. To lower the camera, Ground Pod Slim was born. Any camera accessory with a 1/4” – 20UNC thread can be used. Here, we use the B2-LLR II quick release clamp as it allows for quickly removing your camera from the pod. Flying disc are far more durable than any 3D printed base would be. Combining this rugged base with a 3D printed mount for metal hardware creates a rugged system for quick swapping cameras. Use the centering cross to center the template on the flying disc. Stick down template with PVA glue (glue stick) Once dry, drill out each of the four holes in the corners with a 1/4in drill bit. Remove template and wash any remaking PVA glue. Assembly: Place the nut into the underside of the center unit. This will be what you bolt the quick attachment connector to. (Optionally) Add superglue or E6000 to the bottom of the center unit. Place the center unit into position. This is easiest if done holding the center unit upside down with the underside of the flying disc pointed towards the ground. On one corner, slide an M6 bolt into place from above. On the underside, attach a corresponding nut. Repeat on the opposite corner. Then two more times on the remaining corners. Enjoy your new Ground Pod Slim!
