Grotesque Mayan Urn
thingiverse
The American Museum of Natural History houses a wide array of Maya pottery; a standout piece is an enormous urn from the south region, marked by its signature grotesque face. Using 123DCatch, I captured a detailed image of this artifact and edited it for 3D printing purposes. To optimize the design, I removed excess geometry, mirrored the figure on both axes in Blender, joined faces and loops manually, enhanced creases, smoothed out rough areas, and flattened the top and bottom. The finished product is now ready for printing as either a hollow MayanUrnHollow or a solid MayanUrnSolid, with the original unedited scan available as MayanUrnScan, along with additional 123D Catch scene files in MayanUrnCatchData.
