Groove Mount #3

A grooved insulator holder designed for MakerGear-style insulators is featured in this MakerBot plastruder mount. This design eliminates the need for a large washer when attaching your barrel, as you simply slide it into the slot and secure it with a horizontal bolt. However, note that the bolt may not be necessary if the fit is tight enough. The creator plans to modify other extruders like Printstruder and Wade Extruder to accept groove mounts, considering this design more effective than epoxying or drilling holes in insulators and MakerBot washer style mounts. This version replaces previous designs that didn' Instructions As the tolerances are tight, you may need to modify the barrel_diameter and barrel_inset_diameter variables in the openscad script or carve the slots with a utility knife or sandpaper. You'll require two M3X15 bolts and optionally, an M4X45 bolt and M4 nut. Credit goes to Cathal Garvey for suggesting the use of a bolt to hold the insulator in place, while Erik de Bruijn's teardrop openscad code is also included. Note that this design hasn't been tested on a plastruder yet.
