Grip Aid for Cutlery

Grip Aid for Cutlery

I designed this thing for a friend (for educational use) but I designed it in order to be functional. I made two versions, because knives are often thicker and therefore won’t fit nicely in the same version as fork/spoon… This thing is best to be printed with flexible filament, because it will adapt to many different sizes and shapes. Also it offers a good grip to hold the cutlery. I used the “+” opening because it offered me the most flexibility and strength to firmly hold the cutlery. The grip aid is designed for people who have difficulties in grabbing cutlery. It offers a nice and firm grip. My friend suggested to use red as a signal color to further enhance the autonomy of the user. Concerning food safety: This is all a matter of the printer setup, filament type and how often and how you use the printed part. In general: Any FDM printed part has a raw surface with small holes, where bacteria can grow over time. Just keep that in mind and be responsible with your 3D printed parts.
