The container is slightly misshapen around its rim. In the middle of the floor sits a central feature with cupid on it, lifting his left leg upward. A dog rests on his thigh, while a deer lies nearby. The relief on the central feature is accompanied by a stylized egg and pearl pattern at the bottom of the vessel. An egg-shaped ornament adorns the rim of the bowl. On the outside of the container, the soldering point where the handle was attached is clearly visible. The handle might belong to a pan. The top end of the handle forms a human head. The small head once looked over the edge of the bowl into its interior and stretched out its arms to either side, embracing the rim of the bowl. The bottom end of the handle features a Medusa head decoration. The face is framed by wavy curls that end in two serpent heads that protrude outward. Pans like this one were used in both sacred and everyday settings. The container is made of bronze and measures 18.8 cm in diameter, 5.8 cm high, with a handle that is 13 cm long. It dates back to the third quarter of the first century AD. Model: This object is copyrighted by Landessammlungen Niederösterreich, Niederösterreich 3D.
