Griffin grasping Nemesis’ wheel of fate
myminifactory
The goddess of fate and revenge was Nemesis, a powerful deity known for punishing those who dared to be prideful. She was first depicted as a stern female figure standing alongside the wheel of destiny and a fearsome griffin, a mythical creature with sharp horns, wings, and a lion's body. As time passed, however, Nemesis lost her human-like qualities, and these two symbols came to embody the goddess in all her glory. During the Roman era, Nemesis gained immense popularity, especially among soldiers who brought her cult to new lands. The base of a magnificent sculpture bears an ancient Greek inscription that reads: "In the year 522, I, Mercurios, son of Alexander, dedicated this statue during my term as high priest."
