Griffin Extruder for 1.75mm filament
thingiverse
This extruder is utilized on the Griffin Delta printer and lacks mounting ears. It accommodates both geared and normal Nema 17 stepper motors (as stated in the instructions for the geared stepper it fits). Bowden options are also available with several choices. This extruder uses minimal plastic, is simple to clean due to its exposed hob, and has a unique feature where one side allows for a feeder tube or bowden while the other side uses a screw-on cap for easy removal of bowden tubes and allows for the use of a 4mm captive nut instead of a pneumatic fitting. The whole assembly can be removed if not desired, but to use the nut, you need to eliminate the inner ring under the screw-on cap. For more information on the Griffin, visit http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:259238. Print it at 70% infill with PLA and no support is needed as it's already built-in. You may need to break out several ribs where the idler bearing sits and remove a flat area on the bottom of the threaded plastic for the cap to be threaded on. Thread cleaning is also necessary, but assembly is straightforward. Required components include 1x 625zz bearing (5x16x5mm), 1x Nema17 geared motor, 1x m3x20mm bolt (socket head cap), 1x m3 nut, 1x m3 washer (flat), 2x m3x10mm bolts (socket head cap), 1x 8mm I.D. hobbed gear from Trinity Labs, Makertoolworks, and Ebay, and 1x M5x15mm Socket Head Bolt (14mm-16mm is fine). An optional build for budget purposes is also available with specific motor and pulley replacements.
