Gridfinity Carry-Box Baseplate (CadQuery Customizable)

Gridfinity Carry-Box Baseplate (CadQuery Customizable)

This is inspired by Zack Freedman's weighted Gridfinity baseplates, but adds an external carry box with handle cutouts and puts the weight cavity on TOP. As with all my other Gridfinity models, this was designed using CadQuery instead of Fusion 360. See this video for further information about the project:This version is customizable in CadQuery so you can generate custom sized weighted gridfinity baseplates, including ridiculously large ones like 10x10 baseplates etc. I have included a random selection of grid sizes from 1x1 up. These should be fully compatible with the official boxes/grids. You can also fully customize the X and Y unit sizes, the presence of weight slots and/or magnet/bolt holes AND NOW the height of the carry box! (in the filenames: nowt = no weight slots, and nohole = no magnet/bolt holes in the baseplates). The carry box height is set to 90mm tall, which is enough to comfortably hold a 6-unit gridfinity box without blocking the carry handles. See the included source code to adjust this parameter!#adjust these two variables to change the number of grid positions x_grid_number = 4 #CHANGEME! y_grid_number = 4 #CHANGEME! needs to be 2+ for handle slots disable_mholes = True #disable magnet/bolt holes #^includes bolt bore, counter bore and countersink disable_weights = True #disable tire weight cutouts #^DOES NOT REDUCE THICKNESS OF PART ccase_unit_ht = 90 #mm, total height including baseplate #^90mm comfortably fits a 6-unit high gridfinity box ccase_wall_th = 1.2 #mm, wall thickness of carry caseI re-implemented this because it seems like a perfect fit for an open source CAD software like CadQuery. With that in mind I have also released the source code python script that was used to generate the STLs. I would love for others to help me create new organizer bins and/or re-implement organizer bins in open source CAD software like CadQuery or OpenSCAD.I used CadQuery/CQ-Editor to design this with a recent version checked out from github on April 13th, 2022. Unfortunately CadHub.xyz does not have a recent enough version of CadQuery to render this properly (n.b. the issue is with lack of a combine argument in the older version of the eachpoint method).CQ-Editor is available on github at CadQuery/CQ-editor, but the latest stable release will NOT run the included cadquery source code, so please instead use a static build from here: https://github.com/jdegenstein/jmwright-CQ-Editor/releases/Also check out my related model for support-less weighted gridfinity baseplates here: https://www.printables.com/model/186703-support-less-weighted-gridfinity-baseplates-cadqueIf you are interested also check out my related model for basic gridfinity baseplates here: https://www.printables.com/model/170956-basic-gridfinity-baseplates-cadquery-customizableAnd my related model for undivided gridfinity boxes here:https://www.printables.com/model/174715-basic-undivided-gridfinity-boxes-cadquery-customiz
