Grid Guard
thingiverse
A 3D printable grid guard for 10l buckets sits in the bottom of the bucket, allowing grit from washing your car to pass through and collect at the bottom, not letting your sponge/cloth/mitt come in contact with grit at the bottom of the bucket which minimizes risk to your paint finish from grit on the wash sponge/cloth/mitt. I use this when washing my car using the 'two bucket' method. If you only use one then the grid guard goes in the rinse bucket. Many files are included, print the full guard by choosing the file named 'complete' that matches the coin you wish to use as weight. PLA and ABS both float so grit guards have built in spaces to take coins which provide required weight to keep the guard at the bottom of the bucket. Guard comes in two versions - one accepts British 2p coins, the other takes euro 5cent and us nickels. CAD for base and coin holders are released so they can be easily modified. Future improvements may include thinner surface area on the guard but this works for now. Printer: XYZPrinting Da Vinci 1.0A Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 20% Notes: This print has a large amount of edges (perimeters) and therefore takes a very long time to print. Example prints were done in ABS Post-Printing: Adding coins is easy, but coin holders are a tight fit so care must be taken when putting the coins in. This is especially true on less flexible PLA where breaking the holders is possible.
