Grey Jedi O Katana

Grey Jedi O Katana

Following up on my previous Adafruit lightsaber model, I present a two-handed saber based on an O Katana style. This project began late last night after printing several versions of my Grey Jedi Saber, with some "failed prints" and superseded grips scattered about. So, why not combine them using 5-minute epoxy? Suddenly, a double-length grip emerged, and I thought, "An O Katana two-handed saber might look cool on a Sith..." After a couple of hours in Fusion, the Grey Jedi Okatana took shape. The print files are attached, just like with my previous version. Both wrapped (wrap.stl) and unwrapped (grip.stl) files are included for those who want to add a real leather cloth texture to their grips. The Shroud requires gluing to the Emitter, but I've provided two files for ease of painting and printing. The Emitter is recessed for a 7-neopixel spot with an approximate diameter of 22mm. There are two versions each of the Wrap.stl and Grip.stl files: Mk1 and Mk3. The Mk1 version connects to the Pommel file, allowing a 40mm speaker to be fitted into the pommel, while the Mk3 screws into the Mk1 for a double-length handle. The threads have been toleranced for an Ender 3 running on Low Quality (0.28mm) in Cura 4.4.1, making it easy to fit components without them being too tight. The cradles for an Adafruit Feather M4 Express and Prop Maker Wing wing are included, fitting into either the Mk1 or Mk3 Grip/Wraps depending on where you want electronics for balance. Lastly, the Covertec screw and belt clip are also part of this package. Update: This thing is a beast!!! Update 07/02/20: I've updated the Emitter with a Blade version for a 25mm outer diameter polycarbonate blade. Update 14/06/20: I've revised the Emitter and Shroud STLs after a trial print with a 1m blade resulted in shearing the emitter at the threaded connection to the foregrip. To counter this, print the emitter at 100% infill and modify the bending/shear reactions slightly by recessing the blade into the fore grip. Note that these sabers are definitely not for duelling.
