Grey Cup Trophy - Chalice
thingiverse
Recently, the CFL held its 107th Grey Cup game in 2019. This prestigious league championship game rewards the winner with the coveted Grey Cup trophy. The replica model of the Grey Cup Trophy depicts the silver Grey Cup chalice as it stands alone without any base attachment. I've attempted to create a 1:1 scale model, but encountered difficulties finding information about the trophy's height, which may result in a fraction-sized variation from the actual trophy. Nonetheless, it remains in the same scale as my other Grey Cup models. Printing at 20% of the STL scale is feasible on a Prusa Mk2.5. **The Legacy of the Grey Cup** In 1909, the original chalice of the Grey Cup trophy was commissioned by Earl Grey, who served as Governor General of Canada at that time. The trophy soon became the Canadian Dominion Football Championship award for the national champions of Canadian Football. First presented in 1909, the names of each champion are inscribed on the trophy's base whenever it is awarded. Unlike the Vince Lombardi Trophy, which gets replaced annually with a new copy for each Super Bowl, the same physical Grey Cup trophy is handed down each year and returned by the reigning champions to the Canadian Football Hall of Fame. After scouring online resources, I found no existing CAD model of the Grey Cup, prompting me to fill this niche.
