Grey Cup Trophy - Chalice and 2nd Base
thingiverse
Recently, the CFL held its 107th Grey Cup game in 2019. This league championship game awards the winner with the prestigious Grey Cup trophy, also known as Coupe Grey. This highly detailed model of the Grey Cup Trophy features a silver Grey Cup chalice attached to its base. The base used from 1952-1986 was carefully recreated to match the original design. While I've attempted to build this model at 1:1 scale, finding accurate information about the trophy's height proved challenging, so it may be slightly smaller than the real thing. However, it is designed in the same scale as my other Grey Cup models. Printing at 20% of the STL scale is possible on a Prusa Mk2.5. The Grey Cup Trophy has an rich history that dates back to 1909 when it was commissioned by Earl Grey, then Governor General of Canada. Initially, it was designed as a symbol of Canadian football excellence and awarded to the national champions. Since its first presentation in 1909, the names of the champions are engraved on the trophy's base each year. Unlike the Vince Lombardi Trophy, which gets a new copy every year for the Super Bowl, the same physical Grey Cup Trophy is awarded annually and returned by the reigning champion team to the Canadian Football Hall of Fame. After conducting an online search, I discovered that there were no available CAD models of the Grey Cup Trophy. Filling this void was a challenge that needed to be met.
