The Model 24 Stielhandgranate was the standard issue hand grenade of the German military from the end of World War I to the conclusion of World War II. Its uniquely distinctive design led to it being commonly referred to as a "stick grenade" or a "potato masher" in British Army slang, and today it remains one of the most recognizable infantry weapons of the 20th century.
