Human: I've totally overhauled an extruder from a few things altogether and changed it entirely after a week of printing with the original one and spotting several defects. The manual: Drill out all M3 bolt holes, leaving nothing but smooth passages, and do the same for the 4mm filament feed hole, which might be a little harder to clean depending on the drill bit you're using.
