Use a typical NEMA 17 motor for the extruder, and you're good to go! The modified design elevates the entire assembly above the base, preventing interference with protruding elements at the back. Buda hotend users may require a 10mm spacer to avoid contact with the x-carriage. This modification is compatible with Prusa i3's standard 30mm x-carriage. Based on dviejo's original design, the source code allows adaptation for various supported hotends. To install, place the extruder files in the Prusa i3 box_frame folder or copy the extruder scad directly into it. Attach the extruder to the x-carriage using two M3 bolts (at least 30mm long). A video of an early version can be found here: http://youtu.be/E7ju4vxNtpI. For extra pressure, use 50mm hex bolts with springs and M4 nuts. If you need additional clearance or have a 24mm x-carriage, consider using this part: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:81539. Some users suggest adding 5mm to the base_extra_depth value in the source code for 48mm body-long steppers to increase clearance.
