Greg's Wade Accessible Belt Drive Extruder
thingiverse
This design combines Greg's Wade extruder with Terawatt Industry's belt drive extruder for zero backlash benefits. It features a heavy-duty build and can be found at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:456025. A video demonstration is available at http://youtu.be/cY4r6K0P9Qk. Updates include a 1.75mm filament option added on 2013.12.05 and a corrected belt size on 2014.05.30. Assemble with 65T plastic (carbide) GT2 pulley, 17T aluminum GT2 pulley, a 2mm pitch, 88T, 196mm length, 6mm-wide, fiberglass-reinforced closed-loop GT2 belt, hobbed bolt, 608 bearings (minimum of 3), M4 x 55 SHCS, springs, M8 axle or stud for idler pulley, and M3 SHCS and washers for stepper mount, along with other M3/M4 hardware. Use the stepper mount's slots to tension the belt, recalibrate E steps after installation, and consider reversing your extruder stepper direction in firmware. Employ steel springs instead of elastomer bumpers for idler tension as suggested in the photos. Enjoy improved printing performance with this combination extruder!
