Summary Hal Jordan is a fictional superhero who appears in American comic books published by DC Comics. He was created in 1959 by writer John Broome and artist Gil Kane, first appearing in Showcase #22 (October 1959). As a fighter pilot, Hal Jordan is a member of an intergalactic police force called the Green Lantern Corps and occasionally its leader. He is also a founding member of DC's flagship superhero team, the Justice League, which includes well-known heroes like Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. With his power ring and Green Lantern battery, Hal Jordan fights evil across the universe, using his superpowers to protect Sector 2814, where Earth resides. His abilities come from channeling his willpower into creating fantastic constructs, as long as he can overcome great fear.
