Human: Unleash your creativity and engage in intense battles using this unique mashup of dominoes, card dueling games, and a touch of the unpredictable "consequences" drawing game. Drawing inspiration from collaborative drawing sessions known as "exquisite corpses," this thrilling experience challenges you to pit monsters against each other that you build from a hand of specially designed tiles. As with traditional dominoes, these tiles can only be paired with identical sets, but clever use of special combiner tiles allows players to seamlessly bridge the gaps between different sets, resulting in innovative and fantastical combinations. To start your journey, three comprehensive sets (Bugs, Bots, and Beasts) are provided, complete with detailed rules and a blank template for designing your own terrifying creations. To unleash your full creativity, email your custom-designed creatures back to me, and I'll proudly vectorize them for the next wave of monsters. But be warned - this community-driven project promises endless opportunities for experimentation and imagination. My Design Process I initially determined the ideal size for the tiles and then created a flexible template that I filled with a flurry of designs using my preferred artistic style. After scanning these intricate pieces, I carefully cleaned them up in GIMP to achieve the perfect finish. However, during the tedious tracing process in Inkscape, where every minute detail mattered, Auto-tracing failed me once again. But perseverance paid off as I meticulously hand-tuned the design, eradicating superfluous nodes along the way. As a result of these challenges with the laser cutter at the Aardvark, the final steps were a bit unorthodox: I exported the artwork in PNG format to overcome software compatibility issues, only to be rescued by the onboard engraving capabilities. Nonetheless, this version one of our creation has some inevitable flaws. The 6mm board proved too sturdy for the current laser cutter. For the next release (Version two) I aim to significantly enhance cut file performance and bypass tedious post-processing by using Just Add Sharks Greyfin with precision accuracy. I envision Version Two to be even more inclusive and responsive - where numerous new sets would surface, born out of every twisted and vibrant imagination
