This is a laser scan of a Great White Shark jaw originally reported to come from an 11-meter-long shark, but subsequent analysis by the Museum estimates its length at about 7.5 meters – still an extremely large fish. The specimen showcases the incredible rows of spare teeth lined up inside the shark's jaw. If one tooth is lost, the next in line folds up to take its place. The specimen has been used for public engagement for many years and suffered as a result. This preliminary scan aims to pave the way for 3D printing a high-quality replica for outreach purposes.
