Gray Marine diesel engines of WW II, pt 2

This is a replica of the model 64HN5 engine, which featured distinct differences from its counterparts. The Borg-Warner transmission/reducer was a notable component that distinguished this engine from others. It saw exclusive use in 36 ft landing craft designs [LCP(L), LCP(R), LCV, LCVP]. Approximately 5,000 boats were equipped with this engine between 1942 and 1945. The transmission's synchronization capabilities (forward/reverse) and seawater cooling system set it apart from conventional transmissions used in other models. Additionally, the Borg-Warner transmission was significantly lighter than Twin Disc transmissions found in other engines. The clutch and control systems differed from those in other models, while a radio frequency filter and voltage regulator were standard components mounted on the engine, although not universally present in all examples. A highly detailed 3D model of this engine contains over 5,000 parts, with six distinct levels of assembly.
