A 1/2" shaft-compatible absolute shaft angle encoder was printed for my current assignment, available in 5 and 6-bit versions but not 4 or 7. The design includes adjustable constants, R8Z bearings, and #4-40 screws. Custom modifications such as mounting ears may be necessary to suit your specific project requirements. Enjoy!
