Hello! I'm Andrew, a sophomore at Rowan University majoring in mechanical engineering. Please read my technical report for information on the design and weight reduction aspects of my project. Although it may seem basic initially, I encourage you to thoroughly review the report and understand my efforts towards this competition. As a part of Engineers without Borders, I learned strategies for designing products for developing countries during my first year at college. Consequently, my focus was on creating a product that not only works as intended but also succeeds if implemented in Brazil. Besides designing the product using SolidWorks 2017, I emphasized big-picture thinking, recognizing that a well-designed physical product is worthless without successful adoption by customers or effective help to people. The report outlines basic procedures for removing unnecessary weight from products using simulation capabilities in CAD software. As a student, my submission aims to share what I've learned about making products suitable for developing countries, hoping to improve the lives of people living there. However, please remember that this is just a proof-of-concept design, and any justifications may need further validation. Best regards!
