Gravitrax Gauss Canon with new Connector - no supports
thingiverse
I mixed up the bottom of this Gravitrax Gauss Canon https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4163529 with the connector and notch of this spacer https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3510861 so it doesn't need supports to be printed. You can print the connector and the canon part straight sitting on the printer bed. Maybe you'll need to file off a little bit of the outside of the connector. Works great with PLA. I have a 0.4mm printer nozzle and used 2 perimeter lines, along with 2 solid top and base layers. ### Tip: Adaptive Slicing I tested adaptive slicing, starting at 0.4mm and going down to 0.15 where the track begins, for some layers, then back to 0.4 and again 0.15 just on top, to get a perfect round shape. Printing time was about 40 minutes at a speed of 60mm/s. ### The Magnet For the magnet use a round 15x3 mm Neodym. The front of n52 magnets is a bit stronger than the original Gravitrax magnet and the marble sometimes jumps out of the track. Tip: Put three marbles behind the canon to reduce force. I also used a 2mm n45 magnet, but this has too little power to work well.
