This cemetery in St. Petersburg is undoubtedly one of its most renowned attractions. Four historic cemeteries are situated around the Alexander Nevsky Monastery: Lazarevskoe, Tikhvinskoe, Nikolskoe, and Kazache (Cossack), along with the Church of the Annunciation - a milestone structure that served as both the first stone temple and mausoleum in St. Petersburg, while also being the primary burial site for members of the tsarist family. Today, all cemeteries belonging to the Alexander Nevsky Monastery are part of the State Museum of Urban Sculpture. In the 20th century, the graves of numerous prominent residents from St. Petersburg that were crumbling in neglected cemeteries were relocated here. The monastery is home to the final resting places of notable figures such as writer Fyodor Dostoyevsky, famous composers Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Modest Mussorgsky, and Nikolay Rimsky-Korsakov, among many other luminaries.
