This sculpture depicts a woman kneeling in prayer, completely enveloped from head to toe in traditional religious attire.\r\nThe State Museum of City Sculptures was established in 1932 with the sole mission of studying, restoring, and protecting city sculptures and gravestones.\r\nAs the primary custodian of St Petersburg's most renowned sculptures, the museum maintains numerous branches throughout the city, primarily situated within the former grounds of Aleksandro-Nevsky Lavra, which was generously bestowed upon it at its inception.\r\nEstablished in 1823, Tikhvinskoe Cemetery lies adjacent to the Our Lady of Tikhvin Church, a majestic edifice built between 1869 and 1873. In 1931, the church was shut down, and two years later, the cemetery became an integral part of the State Museum of City Sculptures, known as the Necropolis of Masters of Culture.\r\nThis branch is aptly named in honor of numerous prominent figures from Russian culture who rest here, including celebrated writers Fyodor Dostoevsky, Nikolai Karamzin, and Ivan Krylov; renowned composers Aleksandr Borodin, Mikhail Glinka, Modest Musorgsky, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, and Pyotr Tchaikovsky; and distinguished artists Boris Kustodiev, Ivan Kramskoy, and Ivan Shishkin.
