Gravestone of a woman is beautifully depicted on the monument. The Cimitero Monumentale in Milan, Italy is one of two largest cemeteries in the city, with the other being Cimitero Maggiore. It stands out for its abundance of artistic tombs and monuments. Designed by Carlo Maciachini (1818–1899) architect, it was planned to combine several small cemeteries into a single location around the city. Officially opened in 1866, it has since been filled with many contemporary and classical Italian sculptures, Greek temples, elaborate obelisks, and other original works such as a scaled-down version of Trajan's Column. Many tombs belong to notable industrialist dynasties, and were designed by artists like Giò Ponti, Arturo Martini, Dante Parini, Lucio Fontana, Medardo Rosso, Giacomo Manzù, Floriano Bodini, and Giò Pomodoro.
